"Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners." ? Anonymous Time matters most to me because it allows me the chance to give something that would be more difficult for others to get on their own. The quotation above points to the impact I plan to ultimately make in life after my death versus an award, certificate, or a degree. My most valued accomplishment is using my time on Earth to make a difference for someone else to achieve happiness. This feeling of altruism and selflessness is within us all. The foundation for my unique motivation of altruistic behavior began when I was growing up as an adolescent. On this foundation rests my care for my father who died of prostate cancer, stand up comedy, leadership experiences and community service activities. Last, but not necessarily least, my time spent at American Express is aligned with my motivation. Ultimately, I hope to build an enterprise dedicated to this natural motivation to help others achieve happiness. I envision employees within this enterprise will share my infallible desire to make a positive impact in the world. What is happiness? The answer, simply put, depends on the individual. At a very high level I have found that ?happiness is a perpetual destination or at the very least a euphoric plateau that people want to reach as they live each day of their lives.? The pursuit of happiness is what drives most people to do what they do everyday and I am no exception to that philosophy. The exact details for what I will do with my time on Earth is not always clear but the commitment to serving others is crystal. There are successful business people that give extremely large sums of money to worthy causes. I strive to do the same some day in addition to donating portions of my time before I die.
